Even rangers usually fall to these things. Luftwaffe can build flakvierlings and flakpanzers, which, again, annhilate infantry.

They also get PE's only real artillery later on. Scorched Earth is the most maddening, as booby traps can cripple your early expansion if you're not careful. In terms of command trees, each has a wicked early-game surprise you need to watch out for. They also have Marders, which are basically more mobile antitank guns, and a variety of other useful but specialized vehicles. Later on, they will either play it safe and pick up panzershrecks for a strong counter against your vehicles (which are the best way to counter their strong early-game anti-infantry) or tech up to an anti-infantry panzer, which is murder on, well, infantry. If you box them out with machineguns or other static defenses, they can build mortar halftracks to quickly bombard you, but that costs them valuable fuel that they need to tech up. After that, they will either spam scout cars, which is fast and scary if their player has good micromanagement, or put out an infantry halftrack and ferry rifle-upgraded infantry to your flanks. Panzer Elite have a few basic strategies early game, but mostly their aim is to use their kettenkrads to capture territory and make it more difficult for you to connect supply. On the flip side the standard sherman doesn't too much care about AT inf, just switch to HE rounds and wave them off.The OF factions play completely differently from each other and from the basic set (which actually have a lot in common with each other by comparision). You want to avoid multiple squads of AT inf, and obv AT guns.

If you have not realized it yet, american tanks the crew can jump out and affect repairs (except pershing), so NEVER engage without 100% health, and ALWAYS disengage on 50% health. You can also pair it with a stuart, to knock out enemy tanks engines, which should secure the kill 99% of the time. Personally a tactic I use, if E8's are in my arsenal, is to use the first one very sparingly until I can field 2. That said, REMEMBER you NEVER want to head on with german tanks, they are better armored. The e8 is effective at taking out enemy armor. Generally when I run the e8, i don't bother with TD's.

Remember you can literally keep driving to stay behind the target, the tank will still shoot accurately and without your input. If you do this, one on one, you will win any fight with a similar tier tank. Slap the commander 'head out' upgrade on it, and you have the best flanking tank in the game.Į8 requires micro because you want to hit and run, and you want to ALWAYS hit the flanks. If you read the unit description you will see that it can fire accurately WHILE MOVING. In my opinion the best of all american tanks.
