I don't know if there's an easy way to install / upgrade Raspbian to testing (bookworm), but it looks like there's already 32 bit builds of Nexus available for that release. Hardware decoding of h264 and 4k h265 works as expected for me. Kodi idles on the menu at 25% of one core, which seems a little high but not a big deal.
I haven't seen any issues beyond a little graphical glitch here and there on the menus.
You probably don't need to bother with the addon packages unless you need something specific. They're not needed to install the resulting package. You can check your apt log under /var/log/apt and remove all the dev packages that get installed after you're done. It will be faster and you won't run the risk of damaging an SD card with too many writes or high temperatures. Don't build on an SD card, mount a proper hard drive remotely via NFS or use an SSD in a USB enclosure. Just use the popcornmix gbm_nexus branch:

I suggest simply building it yourself with the instructions on the second thread post, rather than waiting. And I'll check with packaging guy if there's a safe way to allow nexus to be optionally installed from you please update on the status of your NEXUS-builds? It will be in a future bookwork image.īut if the builds are successful I'll provide deb files. So nexus probably won't be an automatic apt upgrade on bullseye.
